9-Day Rwanda Gorillas & Tanzania Safari

Day 1 – Kigali Arrival
Touch down in Rwanda’s capital and feel the warmth of Africa’s welcome. A private driver whisks you to your boutique hotel. Spend the evening unwinding or exploring Kigali’s vibrant streets before your adventure begins.

Day 2 – Kigali to Volcanoes National Park
Start with a moving visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, then head north through rolling hills to the lush foothills of the Virunga volcanoes. By afternoon you’ll be at your lodge, sipping tea with mist-shrouded peaks rising above the forest canopy.

Day 3 – First Gorilla Trekking Experience
Dawn brings anticipation. After a briefing, you set out into the rainforest with expert trackers. The climb is steady, the air damp with moss and earth until suddenly, you’re face to face with a gorilla family. Silverbacks, mothers, and playful youngsters move around you in astonishing calm. For one sacred hour, the world stands still.

Day 4 – Second Gorilla Trekking Experience
A new day, a new gorilla family. Each trek is different, each encounter unique. Today might lead you deeper into the jungle, where the gorillas are more elusive, or to an open glade where they lounge in the sun. The privilege of two treks gives you two completely different windows into their lives.

Day 5 – Volcanoes to Serengeti
After breakfast, return to Kigali for your flight into Tanzania. By afternoon, you’re landing in the Serengeti. A game drive straight from the airstrip delivers your first lions or giraffes before you arrive at your luxury tented camp.

Day 6 – Serengeti Safari
Wake before sunrise to chase the Serengeti’s magic. Lions returning from the night’s hunt, elephants moving in family groups, cheetahs scanning the plains. Spend the day in the company of Africa’s greatest wildlife, returning to camp as stars flood the sky.

Day 7 – Deeper into the Serengeti
Another day, another rhythm. Today could bring the thunder of the Great Migration, or a leopard draped across an acacia branch. Your guide follows the action, ensuring every drive is different from the last.

Day 8 – Serengeti to Ngorongoro
After a final Serengeti morning, drive toward the Ngorongoro highlands. Descend into the crater which is a natural amphitheater teeming with lions, buffalo, zebra, hippos, even the rare black rhino. Picnic on the crater floor, then retire to a lodge overlooking this ancient caldera.

Day 9 – Arusha & Departure
After breakfast, drive back to Arusha. Depending on your flight time, enjoy a leisurely lunch or local shopping before your transfer to the airport for your journey home.
